Amesti Elementary:
Offers One Way Dual Language, 80/20 model, grades Kindergarten though four
Freedom Elementary:
Offers Two Way Dual Language (Immersion), 80/20 model, grades Kindergarten through five
H. A. Hyde Elementary:
Offers One Way Dual Language, 80/20 model, grades Transitional Kindergarten through five
Mintie White Elementary:
Offers One Way Dual Language, 80/20 model, starting with Kindergarten in August 2024Ohlone Elementary:
Offers Two Way Dual Language (Immersion), 80/20 model, starting with Kindergarten in August 2024Starlight Elementary:
Offers One Way Dual Language, 50/50 model, grades Transitional Kindergarten through five
Rolling Hills Middle School:
Offers Two Way Dual Language (Immersion), through courses of Spanish for Heritage Speakers (World Language) and one additional course taught daily in instructional language of Spanish: either Science OR Social Studies, currently grades six and seven
Watsonville High School:
Offers Dual Language courses of Math, Science, and History for combined enrollment of Spanish literate Newcomers with prior Dual Language Program participants.
Enrollment into One Way and Two Way (Immersion) Dual Language Programs with the exception of Alianza Charter:
Enrollment into all PVUSD (public, non-charter) Dual Language Programs for transfer students after Trimester 2 of first grade is dependent upon qualification through entry assessments of biliteracy or prior participation in a program of English-Spanish biliteracy.Enrollment into PVUSD's (public, non-charter) Two Way Dual Language Programs is based upon a prioritization system, and within the prioritization system, a lottery placement.
First Priority - Student lives within the site's attendance boundary and has a sibling(s) currently enrolled in that site's Dual Language Program
Second Priority - Student lives within the site's attendance boundary but currently does not have a sibling enrolled in the Dual Language Program
Third Priority - Student lives outside of PVUSD attendance boundaries, but currently has a sibling enrolled in that site's Dual Language Program
Fourth Priority - Student's parent/guardian is an employee of the Pajaro Valley Unified School District
Fifth Priority - Student lives within PVUSD attendance boundaries, and their school of residence is eligible for Comprehensive Support and Improvement plan
Sixth Priority - Student lives within PVUSD attendance boundaries, and does not qualify under the preceding categories
Seventh Priority - Student lives outside of PVUSD attendance boundaries, and does not have a sibling currently enrolled in that site's program nor a parent who is an employee of PVUSD
If a priority category contains a Waiting List for Two Way Dual Language of a quantity larger than remaining seats available then a lottery system of entrance commences. The program, even in lottery steps, must fill the program seats to meet the following enrollment criteria:
33% of classroom enrolled students scoring Fluent on the oral Spanish placement assessment
33% of classroom enrolled students scoring Fluent on the oral English placement assessment
34% of classroom enrolled students with dominant student/home language use being any language(s), in some cases not requiring a placement assessment

Guiding Values and Goal Statements
The PVUSD Dual Language program models aspire to provide assets-based teaching; we utilize and respect what students bring to the classroom. We celebrate and cultivate linguistic and cultural diversity. We develop students' skills to become global citizens. We provide through our dual language program educational equity and accessible instruction to our students. We aspire to support every student in reaching grade level proficiency in English literacy and Spanish literacy.
The PVUSD Dual Language Goals are:
1) Biliteracy and bilingualism
2) High academic acheivement
3) Sociocultural competency
The PVUSD Dual Language program goals as published in the Guiding Principles for Dual Language Instruction, 3rd ed. (CAL.org., 2018).
