Special Needs
To request a change in pickup or drop off:
To change your address, you must call Special Services 786-2130
Changes may take up to 5 days to complete. When a change is complete, Transportation will let you know of the time change and possible route change.
When a student does not need a bus:
Please call Transportation at 728-6324 to let a dispatcher know that your child is not riding the bus. If Transportation stops at your house and no student comes out 3 consecutive times, transportation services will be canceled until a parent calls to resume transportation. This may take up to 5 days to reinstate.
Morning Pick-Up at Home:
Parents are expected to have their student(s) outside at the determined pick-up location five (5) minutes before their arranged pick-up time. This procedure must be followed regardless of weather conditions (e.g. rain, cold, etc.) There is not enough time for the bus driver to wait for students to come out of their homes after the bus arrives.
The bus driver is expected to come to a complete stop at the designated pick-up location. If the driver does not see the student when the bus stops, the driver will leave and continue to the next stop.
10 Minutes after the designated pick-up time, the parent/guardian is urged to call Transportation to determine the status of the bus. Transportation will inform the parent/guardian of the approximate time of arrival.
Afternoon Drop-off Time:
An adult (18 year old) must be present at the designated drop-off location, five (5) minutes after school is completed for the driver to drop off the student. In the event that an adult is not present, the student is to be returned to school and the parent/guardian must arrange for the student to be picked up at school.
There are times when due to traffic, roadwork, mechanical difficulties, or something beyond the control of the Transportation Department, the driver will be late. If the bus has not arrived within 15 Minutes after the regular drop off time, the parent/guardian is urged to call Transportation at 728-6324 to determine the status of the bus. Transportation will inform the parent/guardian of the approximate time of arrival.
* The bus driver is not expected to honk the horn (VC27001) or call the home, or wait for an adult to arrive.
* If it is parent/guardian’s 3rd consecutive time not at home in the afternoon, transportation services will be canceled until a parent calls to resume transportation. This may take up to 5 days to reinstate.
