I. Academic Excellence / Powerful Learning
Provide a rigorous and inclusive PreK-12 educational program to raise academic excellence for all students through community-connected, culturally relevant learning that lifts up students' assets and strengths while addressing diverse learning needs.
- Systems of Support: Implement and embed interconnected initiatives to create positive, equitable, relevant, and rigorous learning environments for all students.
- Data-Driven Practices: Establish best practices and instructional decision-making through structured collaboration from PreK through post-secondary.
- Grading Equity: Implement standards-based and equitable grading practices.
- College and Career Readiness: Establish annual multi-year graduation and post-secondary plans with students and families in 6th-12th grade.
- Alignment: Ensure secondary course offerings and graduation requirements align with A-G, career technical education, and core content area requirements.
II. Professional Learning
Foster ongoing learning opportunities for staff, families, and partners to enhance knowledge, strengthen collaboration, and apply skills in support of social-emotional wellbeing, academic excellence, and opportunity.
- Pipeline Development: Create a strong professional pipeline to develop our staff.
- Evidence-Based Training: Provide high-quality professional learning opportunities for all staff that support use of best practices in alignment with evidence-based pedagogical practices.
- Individualized Plans: Co-create relevant and effective individualized professional learning plans with staff.
III. Climate, Culture, and Community
Create safety and belonging for all students through engaging, inclusive, and relevant learning environments in collaboration with all educational community members.
- Safety First: Prioritize safety and social-emotional well-being to create a supportive learning and working environment.
- Belonging: Foster collaborative relationships by offering welcoming and inclusive environments to impact student outcomes and sense of belonging.
- SEL Strategies: Implement social-emotional learning strategies to promote student success and ensure equitable access to learning opportunities.
- Engagement: Tailor student educational, enrichment, and afterschool programs to promote engagement and academic achievement.
- Deep Listening: Strengthen relationships through deep listening and discussion with students, families, community partners, and labor unions.
- Equity in Policy: Ensure fairness and equity in policies, resource allocation, and opportunities for all students and families.
IV. Fiscal Responsibility
Implement effective and transparent resource management with a focus on shared decision-making, equitable resource allocation, and sustainability strategies that respond to the needs and priorities of students and leverage community resources.
- LCAP Alignment: Align district funding and resources to the Local Control Accountability Plan and to district goals and priorities, while maintaining fiscal solvency.
- Collective Recommendations: Make collective and community-informed recommendations to the Board of Education on how we use our resources to best serve students and provide competitive salaries.
- Facilities Master Plan: Create a Facilities Master Plan with timelines, a sustainability focus, and prioritization of projects for state-of-the-art facilities.
V. Human Resources
Explore and implement a wide variety of personnel recruitment strategies, with the goal of attracting and retaining a qualified and high-quality workforce.
- Equitable Recruitment: Identify and use appropriate resources and create equitable supports with community partners to advance recruitment and retention.
- Career Ladders: Establish collaborations with educational institutions and industry partners to create career ladders for students, parents, and staff.
