The Summer Technology Institute is a professional development day for teachers being held in the District Office building on Monday, August 4th. Teachers can choose from a variety of in-person sessions, and will receive supplemental pay for their attendance!  If you attend a full day's worth of sessions (9-3:30) you are also eligile to purchase a continuing education credit from the University of Pacific. (Substitute teachers are welcome to attend, however we can't offer supplemental pay for subs- sorry).

	Google Vids in the Classroom Presenter: Miranda Felton (PVUSD) Description: Discover the newest addition to the Google App family: Google Vids! This tool empowers you and your students to easily create, edit, collaborate on, and share videos. This session will cover the fundamentals of video creation in Google Vids, exploring practical application, best practices, and strategies for maximizing student learning through video!
	Adobe Express- Meet the Teacher Poster Presenter: Kate Freels (PVUSD) Description: Design a vibrant "Meet the Teacher" poster using the user-friendly Adobe Express! In this session, you'll quickly learn to create a personalized welcome for your students, leaving with a print-ready poster for your classroom door. Discover how Adobe Express empowers students too, enabling them to design engaging slideshows, videos, websites, infographics, and more!
	Piper Computers (9am-11:45am) Presenter: Chris Bouman (Piper Computers) Description: Empower your grades 3-8 students with hands-on STEM! In this session, teachers will build a Piper Computer and tackle engaging coding and circuitry activities. Discover how to integrate these kits to boost computational thinking, problem-solving, and overall student learning. Class kits are available for check out when you are ready to run this project with your students!

	Google Classroom Tools Presenter: Miranda Felton (PVUSD) Description: Did you know that Google Classroom has embedded tools to support learning and instruction?  Come to this session to learn about Google Classroom’s Video Activities (add interactive questions to videos), Read Along (read-aloud for students with AI support), and Practice Sets (interactive quizzes). All these tools are accessed from within Google Classroom, and offer lots of customized support for students and instant feedback for you and your students!
	ParentSquare Presenter: Kate Freels (PVUSD) Description: Stay connected with families effortlessly! This professional development session dives into ParentSquare, our district's powerful communication app. You'll learn how to seamlessly share crucial information, easily request classroom volunteers or supplies, and stay in the loop with district-wide news and events. We'll explore both the web and mobile app versions, ensuring you're ready to maximize ParentSquare's potential to foster strong home-school connections.

	Video Magic in Minutes with Canva Presenter: Stephanie Sumarna (Santa Cruz COE) Description: Bring your lessons, announcements, and student projects to life using Magic Design for Video—Canva’s AI-powered tool that turns your media into polished, ready-to-share videos in minutes. In this dynamic, hands-on session, you’ll explore how to upload photos or video clips, craft a short prompt, and let Canva do the rest—using AI, Beat Sync, and its rich template and audio libraries to generate social-media-style content.

	AI Tools- Beyond the Basics Presenter: Janie Islas (PVUSD) Description: Take your AI integration skills to the next level in this hands-on, collaborative class for educators who are already familiar with the basics of AI tools. Participants will explore real-world classroom applications and evaluate emerging tools. We'll also dive into responsible use, data ethics, and how to help students become critical thinkers and ethical users of AI.
	Adobe Express- Videos Presenter: Melissa Shaw (PVUSD) Description: In this hands-on session, you’ll explore the power of Adobe Express Video to create short, engaging videos that bring your lessons—and your students' voices—to life. Learn how to easily combine images, text, voiceover, and music to produce a dynamic “About Me” or class intro video. 	Canva Websites Presenter: Stephanie Sumarna (Santa Cruz COE) Description: Discover how to harness the power of Canva’s website creation tools to build stunning, functional, and student-friendly websites—no coding required! In this hands-on session, educators will explore how to design class websites, student portfolios, event pages, and more using Canva’s intuitive drag-and-drop interface.
