The Pajaro Valley Unified School District is pleased to announce that Dr. Albert J. Roman was selected as the Assistant Superintendent-Human Resources at its June 11, 2008  Governing Board meeting.  Albert will begin his duties on July 1, 2008.

Interim Principal Deb Dorney received a phone call this morning from State Superintendent Jack O'Connell informing her that Rio del Mar Elementary School in the Pajaro Valley Unified School District has earned the state's top honor: 2008 Distinguished School.

On January 9, the Governor presented his education budget proposal for the 2008/09 school year.  District staff reviewed the proposal, heard analyses from our county, and identified the impact of the Governor’s proposal on PVUSD.

Granite Rock Corp. Supports SWEET Project With Generous Donation

The SWEET Program has been implemented in eight schools throughout the district over the last two years and when the last award from the State was cut by $35,000.00, project coordinators contacted the Granite Rock Corporation requesting assistance with making up the fund deficit.

English Learner Master Plan

The final DRAFT copy of the English Learner Master Plan is going to the Board for approval at the Wednesday, June 11, 2008 Board meeting.  Final revisions were made by Elena Fajardo, Sylvia Mendez, Chris Lopez Chatfield and members of Cabinet.  The final draft was completed on Thursday June 5th, 2008 just in time for submission to the Board of Trustees.  This final draft of the Master Plan is now available for your review in PDF format. Thursday, 3:25PM - The Pajaro Valley Unified School District will be closed on Friday due to the unpredictable nature of the Sant Cruz Mountains wild fires and air quality issue.

‘Rock On’ Campaign Shows Students It’s Cool to Follow School Rules

In an effort to curb high student suspension rates in Pajaro Valley schools, “Rock On With Our School, Where Following the Rules Is Cool,” an assembly that uses music and humor to show the importance of following school rules and dealing with bullying, is being taken to the schools.

Grand Jury Press Conference
Pajaro Valley Unified School District participates in Grand Jury Press Conference

First, we would like to thank the current Grand Jury for informing us in a timely manner regarding the press conference and the release of this final document. The district was not able to be present at the original press conference that released the report as the district neither received the advance notice nor the advanced copy as required by legal guidelines. We also would like to thank the Grand Jury for including the district’s entire response.
