Wetlands Watch |
Eight Pajaro Valley High School teachers have completed a 168-page High School Teacher’s Curricular Guide to Wetland Education in the Pajaro Valley and Beyond. The project is part of a program at the Fitz Wetlands Educational Resource Center called Project S.E.E (Slough-based Environmental Education) which was funded by NOAA.

Salud Para La Gente |
The Pajaro Valley Unified School District (“PVUSD”) and Salud Para La Gente (“Salud”) are pleased to announce a three-year agreement in which Salud will provide medical, dental and vision services in 5 elementary schools in the District, will continue to provide services in 3 middle schools, and will continue its existing programs in the District’s 2 high schools in Watsonville.

Annual Art Show |
The PVUSD Art Show on April 29, 2009 provided the opportunity to celebrate the work of 141 students from schools across the district. The students’ work is on display in the Public Library, on the second floor of the Santa Cruz County Superior Courthouse and in the offices of the City Manager and the Mayor. IIvy League Tour |
Join the celebration of our Pajaro Valley Unified School District students who have worked hard to be eligible and marketable to the Ivy League Colleges. This April students from Watsonville and Pajaro Valley High Schools will visit and stay with students at: Harvard, MIT, Wellesley, Boston University, Brown University, Yale, Princeton and Columbia.

Two Aptos High School Students Honored |
Two Aptos High School Students Honored As National Merit Semifinalists Aptos High School is pleased to announce that seniors Julia Baba and Nora Brackbill have been honored as national Merit Semifinalists. More than 1.5 million juniors in over 21,000 high schools entered in the 2009 National Merit Program.

Students aren't the only ones who go on field trips. Earlier this week a delegation of 16 teachers and administrators from the Pajaro Valley Unified School District (PVUSD) traveled to the Central Valley to learn how a school district with challenges and demographics similar to ours has been able to dramatically improve student performance.

Keeping the Connection |
Pajaro Valley Unified School District will hold its annual parent conference on Saturday February 21, 2009. “Keeping the Connection” offers local parents/guardians the opportunity to learn positive practices that will support them in remaining connected to their children throughout their development. Parents/guardians will enjoy a keynote speaker and the opportunity to attend 2 informative and educational workshops; offered in English and Spanish.

The Pajaro Valley Unified School District is conducting a district-wide parent survey to help our schools know what parents think and feel about their child's school experiences. You may take the survey online by selecting the Elementary or Secondary Parent Survey. These surveys will be available on January 12, 2009.
