Pajaro Valley Unified School District

LCAP

What is the LCAP?

LCAP is a three-year plan that every school district in California creates to show how they will use state funding to improve education for all students.

Why does it matter to you?

LCAP decides how funding is used, it directly impacts classroom resources, after-school programs, special education, technology, and more. Parents’ voices can help shape decisions that affect their child’s education.

Who has a say in the plan?

Parents, students, teachers, and community members can give input on what they think the schools should focus on. Districts must hold meetings and gather feedback before finalizing their plans.

Who benefits?

While all students benefit, LCAP focuses on helping English learners, low-income students, and foster youth- groups that may need extra resources to succeed.

What does it cover?

Schools set goals in key areas, such as:
  • Improving academic achievement (better teaching, tutoring, materials)
  • Creating a safe and supportive school environment (anti-bullying programs, support services)
  • Encouraging parent and community involvement (parent meetings, feedback opportunities)

Why does it exist?

It ensures that schools spend their money in ways that support student learning and meet the needs of their communities, especially for students who need extra support.
