Technology Integration and Staff Development

Current Course Offerings - Course Archive

PVUSD is dedicated to increasing student achievement through the meaningful integration of technology into the curriculum.  Technology integration must be guided by curricular goals. Our ongoing professional development program is tied to the district's curriculum goals. Check out our current course offerings on our technology Staff Development Web site.

We are currently offering District Technology Integration Grants to classroom teachers to increase technology capabilities in classrooms in order to enhance curriculum and improve student learning. This grant provides hardware to teachers that will use it to implement project-based technology units in their classrooms.  Teachers will also be provided with professional development opportunities to support them in further integrating technology into their classroom curriculum. Another goal of these grants is to inspire more project-based technology integration in classrooms throughout the district through modeling.

If you have questions or suggestions for future technology trainings please contact Kristi Jud (Instructional Technology Coordinator) at (831) 786-2408 or kristi_jud@pvusd.net.

  • Using "Calisphere": Calisphere is the University of California's free public gateway to a world of primary sources. More than 150,000 digitized items at your fingertips, learn to use this resource with several free online media tools.
  • "Copyright Issues for Teachers and Students": There's a lot of talk, but what are the actual rules for using material found on the web, etc? Let's demystify this topic by examining the guidelines for teachers, students, and schools. This will be an active learning experience based on the copyright resources provided online. You will also learn how to bring this knowledge to your students.
  • Using Mail Merge for Home-School Communication: Participants completing this workshop will learn the skills necessary to create personalized parent letters. You will learn how to format text, create and manage a simple address list, use the mail merge feature to insert fields into a document, and preview, print, and save documents. MS Word and Excel will be used. Prior to the workshop, participants will need to obtain parent contact information (either a hard copy or a print out). The final product will serve as a valuable tool to support home-school communication.
  • Introduction to iWork's Numbers In this workshop, participants will learn the basics of using Mac's spreadsheet and graphing software Numbers (part of the iWorks suite). Together we will uncover the variety of spreadsheet and chart templates, learn how to use numbers to set up mathematical formulas, and create visual appealing charts. This workshop will be an overview of Numbers functions and features and is designed for beginning users.
